🐚 From the Bay to the Ocean: an immersive scenography enhanced by Form It
The exhibition “From the Bay to the Ocean – The Odyssey of the Nautilus”, presented at the Departmental Cultural Center of the Abbey of Saint-Riquier by Epicure Studio, offers a unique immersive experience inspired by the marine world and the imagination of Jules Verne.
Entirely built using LEGO® bricks, the exhibition invites visitors on a sensory journey from coastal landscapes to the depths of the ocean.
As part of this large-scale project, Form It products were integrated into the scenography to enhance realism, add volume and texture, and reinforce the immersive quality of each scene.
Form It products serving immersive scenography
Form It products are particularly well suited for scenographic, museum and event design projects.
Thanks to their lightweight structure, flexibility and instant formability, they allow designers to create realistic environments quickly, without heavy technical constraints.
In this exhibition, Form It materials were used to structure spaces, dress the floors and create natural volumes that complement the LEGO® constructions.
Creating realistic mineral and rocky reliefs
The mineral textures created with Form It Desert made it possible to design realistic bases, rocks and reliefs that support both marine and terrestrial scenes.
The product delivers a highly realistic visual finish while remaining extremely lightweight, making installation and on-site adjustments easier.
These reliefs play a key role in the scenography by anchoring the visual elements within a coherent and immersive environment.
Seamless integration with video mapping and lighting
One of the major strengths of Form It materials lies in their interaction with light.
In the underwater areas of the exhibition, Form It shapes organic floor reliefs that enhance the perception of depth.
The textures capture and diffuse video mapping projections and blue lighting effects, creating the illusion of a living, moving underwater landscape.
This interaction between material, light and imagery significantly enhances the visitor’s immersive experience.
Recreating a realistic snow effect
For the polar and winter scenes, Form It was used to recreate a highly realistic snow effect, both soft and sculpted.
The product allows the creation of snow drifts, uneven surfaces and natural-looking reliefs without the need for complex structural frameworks.
This snowy rendering strengthens the winter atmosphere while highlighting the LEGO® creations and maintaining a high level of installation flexibility.
An ideal solution for cultural and event projects
The use of Form It in this exhibition demonstrates the versatility of the material across multiple applications:
-
cultural and museum exhibitions
-
immersive scenography
-
event and experiential design
-
temporary or touring installations
-
themed environments and sensory experiences
Fast installation, modularity and strong visual impact make Form It a highly valued solution for scenographers and designers.
A successful creative collaboration
